Examinations

History and Geography examinations

Two examinations are prepared in History-Geography, one at the end of Collège, one at the end of Lycée.

  • The international option of the brevet is taken at the end of 3ème; History-Geography and English are an integral part of the 'brevet à option internationale'.
  • The international option of the 'baccalauréat' is taken at the end of 'terminale'; History-Geography and English are an integral and important part.

Both of these examinations are commonly referred to by the abbreviation BOI (or OIB). This abbreviation is often used to distinguish bilingual History-Geography from normal History-Geography which is taught entirely in French.

The examinations (the ‘brevet’ and the ‘baccalauréat’) of which history-geography is an integral part are the French state examinations which are taken by all pupils in the school.

Mathematics

GCSE mathematics (a British exam) is taken at the end of seconde.

One public examination is take in mathematics and other course material is internally assessed.

The Mathematics examination prepared for by the Programme is a British qualification. Pupils taking it or the 1ère Mathematics course must still be examined in mathematics in French as part of the brevet and ‘baccalauréat’.
