SECONDARY MATHEMATICS TEACHER in the English National Programme

We are the English National Programme (ENP), the English speaking part of a leading public sector international school offering primary and secondary bilingual and bicultural education in English within the French state system. Our school is in France on the Swiss border, minutes from Geneva. We offer a British- based curriculum and a range of examinations from the French and English systems, including GCE, GCSE and IGCSE, along with the Brevet and Baccalauréat from the French system. We are unique among schools of our type in teaching Mathematics in English. The school leaving qualification that we offer is the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB), which follows a bilingual curriculum jointly set by the French Education Nationale and Cambridge Assessment in England. Prior to this, we offer an AS level Mathematics course in year 12. We have a strong track record in placing students at high-ranking universities in the UK, North America and Europe.
We wish to appoint a full time secondary Mathematics specialist to teach from year 7 up to GCSE Statistics and Mathematics, and ‘AS ’level Mathematics.
The Mathematics department: this is a compact and successful department that secures outstanding standards of learning and attainment. The curriculum gives pupils the opportunity to study Mathematics and Statistics in a way which complements the Mathematics which they also study as a compulsory part of the French curriculum. The department prepares students for GCSE Statistics (in year 10), GCSE Mathematics (in year 11) and AS-level Mathematics examinations (in year 12). It has a tradition of its pupils obtaining very good exam results.
We are looking for a well-qualified Mathematics teacher, with a good degree and genuine passion for the subject and with successful experience (including good results across age groups and exam groups) with higher ability pupils. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English are important; competence in French is less so, but candidates should have the motivation at appointment to gain this rapidly. We value team players who work well in a departmental framework, value others’ ideas, welcome change and innovation and who cooperate well with others.
The person appointed will welcome the idea of delivering good teaching consistently and using modern methods to support it, including use of tracked data and targets for attainment. This person will be confident in using ICT in class, committed to developing pupils’ motivation for Mathematics and to the teaching of subject and other skills as well as content. S/he will be able to give time and energy to enrichment and extra-curricular projects. S/he must be able and willing to travel between school sites as part of the working day.

Contract: a permanent full-time contract of 22 contact hours, plus other duties, will be offered to the successful applicant. This contract will include probationary periods totalling four months.
