ENP Curriculum Overview

 Pupil*Asset is ENP’s online system for tracking attainment and progress

‘Pronote’ is the French secondary school’s online system for recording marks and reporting on attainment.

 

Primary English

Primary: CE1 - CM2; British year 3-6  

External curriculum used:  English national curriculum (pre September 13) for English at Key Stage 2.

Assessment system used: English national curriculum attainment levels (pre September 13), with sub-levels are used and reported on in end of year reports. These are tracked in Pupil*Asset  ‘Competences’ of students are evaluated using ‘Education Nationale’ proforma by ENP teachers (with a French comment) and incorporated into French schools’ reporting system.

Secondary English

Secondary: 6ème - terminale; British years 7-13

(*Parts of the curriculum that are compulsory for all secondary students in ENP are asterisked.)

 

KS3 English in 6eme - 4ème ; British years 7- 9*

External curriculum used: English National Curriculum (pre September 13) for English at Key Stage 3.

How this is applied / adapted:  lesson aims and objectives are extrapolated and generated from NC attainment descriptors and other material; key activities are divided into the three reading, writing and speaking and listening.

Assessment system used: English National Curriculum attainment levels with sub-levels are used. These are tracked in Pupil*Asset. Attainment is converted into a mark out of 20. These marks are included in French reporting system (via ‘Pronote’). Comments in French are included on termly reports.

 

GCSE English Language and Literature in 3ème  and 2nde; British years 10 and 11*  

External curriculum used: Edexcel examination syllabus and courses for English Language and English Literature (in both years; theses are taught as one year courses for students arriving in 2nde); in 3ème, syllabus of International Option of the Brevet (OIB).

How this is applied / adapted: Brevet OIB syllabus and exam preparation (for one oral paper) is integrated into GCSE teaching in 3ème.

Assessment system used: GCSE marks schemes for controlled assessment and letter gradesare used. These are tracked on Pupil*Asset. GCSE marks are converted into a mark out of 20. These marks are included in French reporting system (‘Pronote’) with comments in French for termly reports.

 

OIB English Language and Literature in 1ère and terminale; British years 12 and 13*

External curriculum used: OIB Language and Literature examination syllabus as defined by Cambridge International Examinations in co-operation with the French Ministry of Education

How this is applied / adapted: an English department curriculum based on this syllabus is used.

Assessment system used:  0-20 scale based on Key Point system as defined in OIB Handbook

These are tracked on Pupil*Asset. These criterion-referenced numerical marks are used within French reporting system (‘Pronote’), with comments in French for termly reports.

Secondary Mathematics

Mathematics in 6eme and  5ème ; British years 7- 8 (optional; may be taken in addition to other subjects)

Curriculum used: internally defined curriculum, covering key aspects of Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Data Handling, and which focuses on developing mathematical thinking and problem solving skills.

Lesson time: 2 periods/ week

Assessment system used: departmental assessments at the end of each topic report a mark out of 20 on the French ‘Pronote’ system and inform pupils and parents of attainment.  End of year tests assess students’ mathematical attainment and a National Curriculum level is awarded.  This is reported to pupils and is used for tracking student progress throughout their time in ENP.  It is held centrally by the HOD and is input to the Pupil*Asset system.

 

Statistics GCSE in 4ème  and  3ème ; British years 9 and 10 (optional; one ENP option must be chosen between Mathematics and History-Geography, or both may be taken)

External curriculum used: Edexcel GCSE Higher tier Statistics syllabus

Lesson time: 2 periods /week

Assessment system used:  departmental assessment at the end of each topic based on GCSE style questions reports a mark out of 20 on the French ‘‘Pronote’’ system and informs pupils and parents of attainment.  A National curriculum level is recorded on Pupil*Asset at the end of   4ème and a GCSE grade at the end of 3ème.  Students in  4ème  and  3ème  have a minimum target GCSE Statistics grade, based on their prior performance, recorded on Pupil*Asset, against which their attainment is monitored.

 

Mathematics GCSE in 2nde; British year 11 (optional; one ENP option must be chosen between Mathematics and History-Geography, or both may be taken)

External curriculum used: Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (Higher tier) syllabus and AS C1 and S1 syllabus

Lesson time:  3 periods /week

Assessment system used:  departmental assessment at the end of each topic is based on GCSE questions and reports a mark out of 20 on the French ‘‘Pronote’’ system, informing pupils and parents of attainment.  Students in 2nde have a minimum target GCSE Mathematics grade, based on prior performance, against which their attainment is monitored. Minimum target grades and final GCSE grades are tracked on Pupil*Asset.

 

Mathematics GCE ‘AS’ level in 1ère ; British year 12 (optional part of Lycée curriculum for ENP students)

External curriculum used: Edexcel GCE ‘AS’ level syllabus

Lesson time: 3 periods / week

Assessment system used:  departmental assessment at the end of each topic is based on GCE questions and reports in terms of a mark out of 20 on the French ‘Pronote’ system informing pupils and parents of attainment.  Students in 1ère have a minimum target GCE grade, based on prior performance, against which their attainment is monitored. Minimum target grades and final GCE grades are tracked on Pupil*Asset.

 

There is no ENP Mathematics course in terminale (year 13).

Secondary History-Geography

History-Geography in 6eme and 5ème ; British year 7 and 8*

External curriculum used: ‘Education Nationale’ national curriculum for History-Geography, adapted for international sections.

Lesson time: 2 periods/ week in English in ENP (coupled with 2 periods taught in French)

How this is applied/ adapted: year curriculum plans divide History and Geography topics to be taught in French and English

Assessment system used within ENP: French 0-20 system is used, based on department criteria. These are tracked on Pupil*Asset. These marks are used in French reporting system (‘Pronote’); marks given by English and French colleagues are averaged, with comments in French for termly reports.

 

History-Geography in   4ème and  3ème  (optional; one ENP option must be chosen between Mathematics and History-Geography, or both may be taken)

External curriculum used: ‘Education Nationale’ national curriculum for History-Geography, leading to ‘Option Internationale du Brevet’ (OIB)

Lesson time: 2 periods/ week in English in ENP (coupled with 2 periods taught in French).

How this is applied / adapted:  year curriculum plans divide History and Geography topics to be taught in French and English; OIB oral examination prepared in ENP and normal brevet examination in French.

Assessment system used within ENP: French 0-20 system is used, based on department criteria. These are tracked on Pupil*Asset. These marks are used in French reporting system (‘Pronote’); marks given by English and French colleagues are averaged, with comments in French for termly reports.

 

History-Geography in 2nde; British year 11 (optional; one ENP option must be chosen between Mathematics and History-Geography, or both may be taken)

External curriculum used: ‘Education Nationale’ national curriculum for History-Geography, adapted for international sections

Lesson time: 2 periods/ week in English in ENP (coupled with 2 periods taught in French)

How this is applied/ adapted: year curriculum plans divide History and Geography topics to be taught in French and English.

OIB History-Geography course in 1ère and terminale; British years 12 and 13*

External curriculum used: OIB History-Geography examination specification as defined by Cambridge International Examinations, based on the OIB syllabus defined by the ‘Education Nationale’

Lesson time: 2.5 periods/ week in English in ENP (coupled with 2 periods taught in French).

How this is applied/ adapted: year curriculum plans divide History and Geography topics to be taught in French and English

Assessment system used within ENP: French 0-20 system is used, based on criteria defined in the Cambridge OIB specification. These marks are used in French reporting system (‘‘Pronote’’); marks given by English and French colleagues are averaged, with comments in French for termly reports.
