WRITING YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT.
-This document is where you need to explain and show who you are to the universities you are applying for. By this I mean that, in addition to being well structured and grammatically correct, it should also reflect you and your reasons for wishing to study the courses which you have put onto your application.
-You must try to write as yourself, communicating your enthusiasms and intellectual passions in relation to your studies.
-Don’t try to invent what you think is an appropriate but exaggerated formality which can often sound artificial and/or self-important.
-Imagine you are writing an autobiographical assignment concerned with the following:
Your interests,
Your reasons for your course choices,
Some reference to details or topics in your studies which have really interested you,
Reading or other personal engagement with your subjects beyond school and work set,
Why you wish to study in and English environment.
How you see your future developing in relation to the degree course you have chosen,
Your bi-lingualism and multi-culturalism and what you think this has brought to your development,
Other hobbies or intellectual, artistic, musical or sporting pursuits, trying to evoke what makes them so enjoyable, stimulating and what they contribute to your life.
PREPARATION.
In order to prepare for this part of your application, you must build up a personal file from now on, collecting together certificates, bulletins from 3eme onwards and other pieces of evidence which show your achievements. During the second part of the premiere year, from March, individual interviews will be organized in which you will discuss your application with Mr. Ackroyd. A questionnaire will be given to you which will help you to prepare for this. This MUST be done in advance of the interview.
