Contact between the Programme and Parents

  • Teachers use the telephone to contact parents for all urgent matters. The telephone is also used in this way by the Lycée/Collège, especially for urgent questions concerning welfare, discipline or absence from school.
  • Please take care to fill in both your home and work telephone numbers carefully (as well as mobile numbers) on forms returned to the Lycée/Collège and on the Programme's re-enrolment form.
  • The ALA-ELP Newsletter,  and letters about events  such as GCSE examination registration and primary assemblies are sent home as printed documents with pupils. Teachers tell pupils to give parents these documents on the evening of the day they receive them. This distribution may be backed up with email reminding parents to ask their son/daughter for the document.
  • For secondary pupils only, the Programme and individual teachers use the 'carnet de liaison' as a routine means of communication. Please ask your child if there are  messages in this regularly, and sign messages to show you have read them. You may reply with a message in the 'carnet'.
  • Certain important documents are sent by post. These include bills from the ALA-ELP association, re-enrolment forms, letters about options and primary emergency information forms. The agenda for the ALA-ELP annual general assembly and the reports from the ALA-ELP President and the Head of Programme that go with it are mailed in this way.
  • Secondary school reports are sent by post by the Lycée/Collège. These include English National marks. They are sent towards the end of each term and in a shortened form (the 'relevé des notes') just before half term for the first two terms for Collège classes (6ème-3ème).
  • For many matters, both urgent and non urgent, the Programme's preferred  means of communication with parents is email. Thanks to the work of the parents' association, we can send an email message to all parents or to selected groups (such as all primary parents or all parents of pupils in 2nde, etc.). Please help us to make sure that this syetm works well. Take care that you have filled in your current email address(es) on your re-enrolment form each year. If you change one or both of the addresses given by you on this form, please let us know as soon as possible. Inform Mrs Howen at secretary@enpferney.org or on 04 50 40 82 66.
