Membership
You are about to become a member of the
ALA-ELP Association.
What does this mean?
- ALA-ELP stands for 'Association de Langue Anglaise / English Language
Programme.
- Its main goal, within the limits of resources, is to provide complementary
teaching in English for pupils within the French educational system. It does
this by running the English National Programme in the College/Lycée
International in Femey-Voltaire.
- It is a 1901 association. It is non profit making, is run by volunteers
and employs professional staff.
-
To this end, it charges fees which pay for salaries, books, computers and other teaching equipment.
-
The volunteers who run the Association and form its
committee are parents like you. The Association needs volunteers who are
prepared to put time into the monthly committee meetings and the other
activities needed to manage the English Language Programme.
-
As an Association member (even if you are not on the
committee) your commitment must be more than simply paying your fees. Please
be:
- prompt in paying your fees
- active in attending meetings
- well informed: read the information which the
Programme and the Association produce
- interested in your child's education in English and
in how the Association contributes to this.
- prepared to help: we need volunteers as classroom
helpers and to help organise and run events.
